My husband and I have lived here in Big Lake for the last 6 years. We have 5 kids and 4 dogs! In my free time, I love to go out and explore and take my kids to new places!

"I support the Minnesota Jets because we believe in and have the same passion for this sport we all love. Being a cheer coach is one of the most powerful platforms in youth lives. We as coaches serve as mentors, friends, and family who will provide memories and knowledge for a lifetime. Being a coaching director and coach gives many opportunities to influence and empower young minds and develop our leadership in a sport we all share a passion for."

Association President
Katie Lavender
2nd Year Board President for the Minnesota Jets!
I am a nurse leader. In my spare time I spend time running my daughter to dance and cheer. I have a boy and a girl. My son rides bulls and goes all over the state of Minnesota. We love our animals and have a cat and dogs.
Cheerleading is a way for my daughter to learn how to stunt and grow in competitive sports. She loves cheering, and I love being her #1 fan.
*The Minnesota Jets mean a lot to me. Allowing individuals to cheer regardless of the financial expectation that comes with cheering. Growing up, I couldn’t cheer because my parents couldn’t afford it. We are thrilled to be a program who are able to offer assistance to families, so no financial situation needs to prevent your child from being a part of cheer with the Minnesota Jets.*

Association Vice-President

I live in Big Lake with my fiancée Lindsey, our children, Ella, Gage, and Beckett as well as our two dogs named Linus and Charlie. Ella has been a cheerleader for 6 years, what started as an activity for me to simply be a proud parent turned into being a founding member of the Minnesota Jets. I have served as Vice President of the board since its inception. I work as an IT Project Manager. In my free time, I enjoy coaching baseball, playing golf, football, and spending time with my family.

"Cheerleading is a tough and physical sport. It’s a grueling months long journey to perfect a 2-minute and 30-second routine. It requires mental focus, physical exhaustion, teamwork and trust. You have to know everyone will do their job for the routine to be successful. That is just the routine itself. Outside of the routine, athletes learn the value of volunteering, the positivity of cheer teams celebrating each other, the friendships and connections made when you all hold each other quite literally in your hands. When done right, cheer can be an amazing sport. As a founding member, I want to make the Jets as successful as it can be, and I hope to help provide that here at the Minnesota Jets."

Association Treasurer
Thaddious Dooner
I am a Service Member in the Army National Guard and have been for the last 14 years, as well as an Engineer for the Railroad for the last 3 years. I have over 10 years of experience in management and finance. When I am home, I enjoy spending time with my wife and 5 daughters.
"I support the Minnesota Jets because I have seen firsthand with my daughters the kind of difference a program like this can make for kids in our community. I am thrilled to be a part of the growth and development this organization is experiencing."

I live in Elk River with my wonderful family - my husband Brandon, our one year old daughter Julia, and our energetic but lovable chocolate lab, Rocky. For work I travel quite a bit as a life insurance wholesaler for Securian Financial. My work takes me across the country pretty regularly! I also am an active member with Junior Leagues of Minneapolis, an all womens nonprofit where I serve on the Fundraising Committee. In my free time I love going to my gym - Crossfit Una Stamus - and getting a good workout in. I have been doing crossfit for about 7 years now. My schedule is pretty busy but I love all these things so much!

"Cheer is where I met my two very best friends who mean so much to me almost 15 years later. I strongly believe cheer will teach you perseverance, dedication, community, how to be a good friend, and how to rely on others and be relied on. It gives people the opportunity to be something more. Cheer changed my life.
The Jets is a nonprofit that supports everyone to get the opportunity to get involved in cheer. I have seen many girls come in and enjoy their time here, where they don't get the same opportunity elsewhere. It warms my heart to see them come to life and thrive in this environment."

"Why do I support the Minnesota Jets? The answer is simple-we're a family. I've never seen a group work so hard, love each other, connect so profoundly, and support one another in such a short amount of time. I've also seen many parents and coaches come together to make the Minnesota Jets association what it is. I couldn't find a more uplifting, positive reinforcement-based, and fun-loving cheer family if I tried. I am truly honored to be a part of this."

I bartending/Waitress in Maple Lake, I am on a performance cheerleading team that practices once a week, I have two dogs (one yellow/red lab) and another (german shepard/beagle mix) i’m also the youngest in a family of 6.
"I support the Minnesota Jets because it’s not like any other gym in MN; it’s a community built on passion, heart, and a lot of growth. When I first joined cheer, not only did I find my favorite hobby, but I also found a place where I was heard, felt safe, and was taught leadership. I want the kids to be able to experience the same thing I did, and I want to be the one to help them find themselves, like I was able to."
